'The Trolley Barn'
The Trolley Barn is the center of the Inman Park neighborhood. It's stood for over a hundred years in various states of repair, but these days it's pristine. There is no better dance venue in all of Atlanta. Parking is easy, air conditioning is good, bars are nearby. Oh and did we mention it has wooden floors? Paradise.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a lead and a follow? Is it gendered?
Lead and follow are the two roles in most social dancing situations.
If you are selecting the movements you are called the lead, if you are interpreting the movements of a lead then you are called the follow.
These roles are not gendered. Traditionally men would lead and women would follow but these days it's normal for someone to take an opposite role or to learn both.
What style of dance are you teaching?
At this location we only do contra dancing and waltz. At our other locations we do a huge variety of other dances.
What if I don't know how to dance?
That's totally fine! You don't need to have any experience to attend. Even if you think you are unable to learn, most anyone can be taught.
Do I need a partner?
No, you do not need a partner, you'll find plenty of them at the dance!
What should I wear?
Wear whatever is comfortable. Your feet may get stepped on so don't wear new white shoes. You'll find people wearing any number of things ranging from jeans and dress pants, to shorts and skirts.
Even though we're teaching dance you won't be dancing the whole time. No need for athletic clothing unless you feel like it. Also our air conditioning is amazing, you're more likely to be chilly than sweaty.
What is the parking situation?
There is tons of street parking at this location, and a few big lots nearby that allow us to park for free--
· 10 spots in our parking lot on the west side of the Barn
· 10 spots across the street in the Justice Center parking lot
· 35 spots available in the Inman Park Church on the corner of Edgewood and Elizabeth, less than a block away
Are all ages welcome?
Yes! All ages are welcome at this location.
Bring your children and we'll teach them how to contra dance. They have to be able to understand the lesson and rotate like everyone else, though. We suggest 11 and up.
How can I attend for free?
We need volunteers to take pictures/videos and set up/clean up. If you want to volunteer in exchange for a free ticket please reach out to wilder@reframed.market
Is there any drinking allowed at this lesson?
Yes! This event is BYOB (bring your own beer) but that only extends to beer and wine. Please drink responsibly.
I have questions, who should I contact?
You can email wilder@reframed.market with any questions or concerns!
